Best Shopify Loyalty Apps in 2026, Ranked by Real Install Counts

The most-installed Shopify loyalty app is Smile: Loyalty Program Rewards, running on 22,641 stores across the Shopify stores Koala tracks. Stamped Reviews & Loyalty follows on 14,276, Appstle Loyalty Program Reward on 9,891, Yotpo: Loyalty Rewards Program on 6,958, Growave: Loyalty & Wishlist on 5,187 and Rivo: Loyalty Program, Rewards on 5,010, counted on 19 October 2026.
Two more names sit inside that range and belong in the conversation: Ryviu: Loyalty & Reviews on 12,530 stores and Okendo: Reviews & Loyalty on 11,711. Both are review apps that added loyalty, which turns out to be the shape of this whole category.
What the install counts actually tell you

Smile sits more than 8,000 stores clear of second place, then the field flattens into a long shoulder between about 5,000 and 14,000. A gap that wide at the top usually means one app got there first and became the default recommendation; a shoulder that flat below it means nothing has since separated itself on merit.
Two honest caveats before you read anything into the order. These are counts across the Shopify stores Koala tracks, not a census of the platform, and that coverage leans toward the dropshipping and direct-to-consumer stores our users research. And an install count measures adoption, not results. It tells you which problem merchants in your niche keep paying to solve, which beats a ranked opinion as a starting point, and it still says nothing about whether the programme will pay for itself in your store.
One merchant on the Shopify Community put the counter-argument better than we could. Asked which loyalty app to pick, an agency developer who has set up programmes for many stores told the asker not to default to the popular choice: check which plans carry VIP tiers, referrals, points expiration, a custom email domain and multi-language setup, because the well-known apps hide those behind expensive plans. He is right, and the pricing below proves it.
The thing nobody tells you about this category

Of the eight most-installed loyalty apps in Koala's data, five do not sell loyalty on its own. Stamped, Ryviu and Okendo are review platforms with a rewards engine attached. Growave bundles loyalty with a wishlist. Appstle grew out of subscriptions. Only Smile, Yotpo Loyalty and Rivo sell you a loyalty programme and nothing else.
So the decision most merchants think they are making, which loyalty engine is best, is usually not the decision in front of them. The real question is which bundle they want to own. The points mechanics across these apps are close to interchangeable: earn on purchase, redeem for a discount, refer a friend, climb a tier. What differs is the second app you stop paying for.
That is exactly how merchants shop for it in practice. One store owner asked the Shopify Community for reviews and loyalty in one app, explaining they wanted photo and video reviews plus a rewards programme "without adding a separate app just for that", to avoid a big stack that could hurt store speed. The replies split cleanly. One developer pointed at the combined apps; another argued for picking two best-in-category apps instead and watching how much JavaScript each one loads rather than counting app icons. Both answers are defensible, and which one is right for you depends on whether you already pay for reviews.
Work out your bundle first. Then pick from the apps that cover it.
Smile: Loyalty Program Rewards, 22,641 stores
Smile is the category default and the cleanest expression of a pure loyalty app. Points, rewards, VIP tiers and referrals, with 15-plus ways to earn and redeem, discounts and free-shipping rewards, full branding control, over 20 languages and Shopify POS earning and redemption. It embeds on product pages and at checkout, and the Loyalty Hub gives signed-in members a home for their balance. Rated 4.9 across 4,641 reviews, checked on 21 October 2026.
An install count this far ahead of the field tells you Smile is the safe answer rather than the clever one. It is the app an agency recommends when nobody wants to be blamed, and 22,641 stores running it means the integrations you need almost certainly exist, including Klaviyo, Judge.me and Gorgias.
Read the plans carefully, because this is where paul_dubois's warning lands. The free plan covers up to 200 monthly orders with points, rewards and referrals. Essential is $15 a month to 500 orders. Standard is $79. VIP tiers and points expiry do not appear until Growth at $199 a month, which includes 2,500 orders then $20 per additional 100.
It suits stores that want the default, have real integration requirements, and either do not need tiers or are big enough that $199 is noise.
Stamped Reviews & Loyalty, 14,276 stores
Stamped is a reviews platform first. It collects product reviews, ratings, photos, videos and Q&A with customisable widgets, adds Google Shopping and rich-snippet SEO, and then layers a loyalty programme with points, discounts, referrals and VIP tiers on top. Rated 4.7 across 3,753 reviews.
Its install count is the most interesting number on this page, because Stamped is the only app in the top eight with no free plan. Pricing on 21 October 2026 starts at $23 a month for reviews up to 200 orders, $99 at 1,000 orders and $199 at 5,000. Loyalty is a separate line: the Loyalty (5k) plan is $299 a month. Nearly all of those 14,276 stores installed Stamped for reviews, and the loyalty programme is an upsell most of them have not bought.
Which makes it a straightforward call. If you already pay for Stamped reviews and your order volume is high enough that $299 is a rounding error, adding loyalty inside one admin saves you an integration. If you are shopping for loyalty, start somewhere with a free tier.
Appstle Loyalty Program Reward, 9,891 stores
Appstle Loyalty is the price-performance pick, and the numbers say so plainly. Reward programmes, VIP tiers, referrals and cash-back programmes, paying out in points, discounts, coupons, cash back, store credit, POS rewards, free shipping, free products, badges and custom rewards. Rated 5.0 across 1,441 reviews, the highest rating in this roundup.
The free plan runs to 250 monthly orders and already includes the points programme, earning and reward rules, a loyalty page with store credits, referrals, milestone emails, analytics and data exports. Starter is $10 a month to 500 orders. Business is $30 a month to 2,000 orders and carries the VIP programme, custom points expiration and free-product redemption. Business Premium is $100.
Appstle reached 9,891 stores from a different direction: the developer's subscription app is one of the most-installed in its own category, and merchants already in that admin add loyalty without a second vendor. The same community developer who warned against popular apps rated Appstle second overall on flexibility, praising multiple earning rules per order and the price, while flagging slower support.
It suits stores that want tiers without a $199 bill, run subscriptions already, or need unusual earning rules.
Yotpo: Loyalty Rewards Program, 6,958 stores
Yotpo Loyalty is the enterprise option, sold as part of a retention suite. Reward programmes, memberships, VIP tiers, referrals, subscriptions and custom programmes, with over 20 out-of-the-box campaigns including goal spend and social engagement, plus segment targeting and advanced analytics. Rated 4.7 across 971 reviews.
The pricing shape is the tell: free to install for stores under 100 monthly orders, then a single jump to Pro at $199 a month, with per-order charges from 500 orders a month. There is nothing in between. Yotpo is built for brands that will land on the $199 plan and stay there, and the install count reflects a narrower, larger customer than Smile's.
It also carries the warning that comes with any platform holding your points liability. In October 2026 a merchant on r/ecommerce reported that after a scheduled Yotpo loyalty maintenance window, their outstanding negative points went from -200 to -971,000 overnight, with hundreds of customers showing negative balances and no matching transactions in their earning histories. That is one store's incident, not a verdict on the app, and it is a useful reminder: whichever app you pick, export your points balances on a schedule. Points are a liability on your books and customers notice when they vanish.
It suits stores already on Yotpo reviews or SMS, and brands over 500 monthly orders who want one vendor across retention.
Growave: Loyalty & Wishlist, 5,187 stores
Growave is the broadest bundle here: loyalty and rewards, VIP tiers, referrals, reviews and wishlists, across online and Shopify POS. Points, store credit, punch cards, cashback, gift cards and bonus campaigns, redeemable online, at checkout, in POS or through Apple and Google Wallet, with wishlist price-drop and back-in-stock alerts, B2B rewards and review syndication to Google Shopping. Rated 4.8 across 1,290 reviews.
Its free plan is the most generous in this roundup on breadth rather than volume: three apps in one at 200 monthly orders, covering the loyalty points programme, wishlist and product reviews, with Growave branding. Entry is $15 a month to 500 orders. Growth at $199 adds VIP tiers, store credit, points expiration, a custom loyalty page and POS wallet passes. Plus is $499 with checkout extensions and headless API access.
A wishlist is the under-rated half of that bundle. Swym Wishlist Plus runs on 27,555 stores in Koala's data, more than any loyalty app here, which says the demand for saved lists is larger than the demand for points. If you were going to buy both, Growave's free tier is the cheapest way to test both at once.
It suits stores that want loyalty, wishlist and reviews from one vendor, and anyone selling in person as well as online.
Rivo: Loyalty Program, Rewards, 5,010 stores
Rivo is a pure loyalty and referrals platform built for fast-growing direct-to-consumer brands, with memberships, VIP tiers, cash-back programmes, store credit, POS rewards, early and exclusive access, membership perks and custom rewards. It integrates with Klaviyo, Gorgias, Postscript and Attentive, and ships a developer toolkit for custom work. Rated 4.7 across 1,440 reviews.
Its founder's pitch on the listing is explicitly aimed at this category's pricing, arguing other loyalty tools stopped improving while their prices kept rising. The plans back the claim. Free forever to 200 monthly orders. Essential is $15 a month to 500 orders with a dedicated loyalty and referral page, theme extensions and POS. Scale at $49 carries VIP tiers, points expiry, bonus campaigns and the referrals programme, capped at $499 regardless of volume. That is the same tier feature set Smile and Growave charge $199 for.
The install count is the smallest here, which cuts both ways. Fewer stores means fewer third-party integration guides written about it. It also means Rivo is still competing for you on price rather than on reputation.
It suits scaling direct-to-consumer stores that want tiers and referrals early, and anyone who has looked at a $199 quote and stopped.
The VIP tier price gap, in one chart

VIP tiers are the feature merchants reach for second, once the basic points programme is running and they want their best customers treated differently. Four of these apps name tiers on a specific plan card, and the spread between them is more than six times.
Appstle puts the VIP programme on its $30 Business plan. Rivo puts VIP tiers on its $49 Scale plan. Smile and Growave both hold them until $199 a month. On Stamped, the loyalty module itself starts at $299.
Nothing about building a tier system justifies that gap technically. It is priced against what a store on 2,500 orders a month can afford, which is a reasonable thing for a vendor to do and a bad thing for you to walk into. Decide now whether you will want tiers, then price the plan that has them.
The comparison table
Install counts are Koala's own, read on 19 October 2026. Programme types, ratings and prices come from each app's Shopify App Store listing, read on 21 October 2026, and every app is linked so you can check it yourself before you subscribe.

See which loyalty app a store you admire is running
The most common complaint merchants post about their own store is some version of "my conversion rate is flat and I cannot work out what I am missing". Guessing at it from inside your own admin is slow. Reading the stack of a store already beating you is fast.
Koala Inspector's Shopify app detector lists every app installed on any live Shopify storefront and groups them by type, with a link out to each one in the App Store. It is completely free and costs no tokens, so you can check as many stores as you like.

The check takes a few minutes per store:
- Search your main keyword, open the top three stores outranking you, or paste a competitor's URL straight into the extension.
- Click Koala Inspector and read the app list. Loyalty apps show under the marketing and conversion grouping.
- Open the same store's footer or customer account area and look for the rewards page. That tells you how they configured the programme: points only, tiers, referrals, or a punch card.
- Match the two. The app list tells you what they bought; the rewards page tells you how they set it up, which is the part no roundup can give you.
Run that across three competitors and the pattern separates a category standard from one store's budget. If all three run a bundled app, your niche has already decided that reviews and loyalty belong in one admin. If all three run a pure loyalty app alongside Judge.me, that is the answer too, and you have just saved yourself a migration.
Install Koala Inspector free and check your three closest competitors before your next subscription.
Picking one
Three store shapes cover most of the decision.
You already pay for reviews. Keep them and buy a pure loyalty app. Smile if you want the default and the integration library, Rivo if you want VIP tiers at $49 instead of $199. Pay for a bundle only when you are actually ready to drop the review app, because migrating reviews costs you the star ratings your product pages lean on.
You pay for nothing yet. Start on a free tier and let the bundle decide it. Growave gives you loyalty, wishlist and reviews free to 200 monthly orders, which is the broadest free test available. Appstle gives you the deepest free loyalty programme at 250 orders. Run one for a month before any card is charged.
You know you want tiers. Go straight to Appstle at $30 or Rivo at $49 and skip the apps that charge $199 for the same feature. Tiers change how your best customers behave, so the sooner they exist the sooner you can measure them.
Whichever you pick, set the bar before you install. Work out what extra gross profit the app has to add each month to clear its fee, run one programme for six weeks, and uninstall it if it misses. Our profit margin calculator and customer acquisition cost calculator run those sums against your own figures, and a loyalty programme that lifts repeat purchases is the cheapest way to raise what you can afford to pay for a new customer.
And run one programme at a time. Stacking points, a wishlist nudge and a referral popup on the same storefront is where merchants lose track of which offer moved anything.
How we counted
- Install counts: the number of Shopify stores in Koala's tracked set observed running each app, read on 19 October 2026. This is Koala's own store coverage, weighted toward the dropshipping and direct-to-consumer stores our users research, so read it as a strong sample of working merchants rather than a Shopify-wide census.
- Programme types, ratings, review counts and prices: taken from each app's Shopify App Store listing on 21 October 2026 and linked in the table above. Cheapest paid plan means the lowest recurring charge. A free plan is listed separately from a free trial, because they are different offers.
- The VIP tier chart: the lowest-priced plan whose own feature list on the listing names VIP tiers. Apps whose plan cards do not name tiers on a specific plan are left out of that chart rather than guessed at.
- Rankings: by install count only. No app paid for a position on this page.

Shopify loyalty apps: frequently asked questions
Do loyalty programmes work for small stores?+
They work when you have enough repeat-purchase potential for points to matter. A store selling a product people buy once a year has little to reward; a store selling consumables has a lot. The honest test is your own repeat-purchase rate before you install anything. Start on a free plan, which every app here offers except Stamped, and set a number the programme has to hit: extra gross profit per month above the subscription fee. Four of these apps cover up to 200 or 250 monthly orders free, so a small store can run a real points programme for nothing while it finds out.
What does a Shopify points programme typically cost?+
Entry pricing clusters tightly. Smile, Growave and Rivo all charge $15 a month for their first paid tier, Okendo $19, Appstle $10 and Stamped $23, checked on 21 October 2026. The cost that catches people out is VIP tiers. Appstle names them on its $30 plan and Rivo on its $49 plan, while Smile and Growave both hold them back until $199 a month. Price the plan that carries the features you will want in six months, not the one you will start on.
Does Shopify have a loyalty programme built in?+
No points engine, no. Shopify gives you the raw ingredients: customer accounts, discount codes and store credit, which Shopify's own documentation lists as something you can issue as a reward or incentive, such as a loyalty or referral program. What the platform does not do is calculate points, run earning rules, build VIP tiers or handle referrals. That is why every store running a real programme is paying an app for it.
Anyone actually running ChatGPT ads for their Shopify store?+
It is a live channel. OpenAI began testing ads inside ChatGPT in the United States in February 2026 and has since opened a self-serve Ads Manager with cost-per-click bidding and budget controls. Benchmarks are still thin, so treat it as an experiment rather than a plan. The better use of the same hour is retention: a store that keeps 30% of its customers can pay more for every click on every channel it buys, which is the argument for a loyalty programme in the first place.
Are Shopify point of sale payments secure?+
Shopify is certified Level 1 PCI DSS compliant and that compliance extends by default to every store powered by Shopify, so card data on integrated POS hardware is handled by Shopify's payment infrastructure rather than sitting in your own systems. What stays your responsibility is account hygiene: staff permissions, two-step verification and a locked-down admin. If you sell in person as well as online, check that your loyalty app earns and redeems points at the till. Smile, Appstle, Growave and Rivo all name Shopify POS support on their plan cards.
Can I use my own domain name with Shopify?+
Yes. You can buy a domain through Shopify or connect one you already own from a third-party registrar, and Shopify's domains documentation walks through both. Point it at your store, set it as primary, and every link your loyalty emails send out will carry your brand rather than a myshopify.com address. That matters more than it sounds for a rewards programme, because the points-balance email is one of the few messages customers open twice.
Can Shopify spy on sales?+
Shopify does not publish your sales figures and no competitor can read your admin. What anybody can see is your public storefront: the products you list, the prices you set, the apps your theme loads and the reviews you display. Research tools, Koala Inspector included, work entirely from those public signals, which is why their sales figures are modelled estimates rather than reported numbers. Your order data stays yours.
Do I need to be a designer or developer to use Shopify?+
No. Shopify's theme editor is a drag-and-drop interface, and its documentation on customising themes covers everything most stores need without touching code. Loyalty apps follow the same pattern: all six apps here install their widgets through theme app extensions, so the points launcher and the rewards page appear without you editing a template. Development time is for the edge cases, such as a headless storefront or a custom earning rule.
How can I check my Shopify store's sales for free?+
Your own numbers are in Shopify admin under Analytics, where the reports cover sales over time, by product and by customer, free on every plan. Repeat customer rate is the one to find before you buy a loyalty app, because it tells you whether there is anything to reward. For a store you do not own, Koala Inspector gives you a free read of its catalogue, its likely best sellers and its full app list, so you can see what the stores in your niche chose.
