How the Shopify Leaderboards are built

Shopify Leaderboards list the busiest Shopify stores in 21 categories, ordered by estimated monthly visits, and what those stores sell most. Two Shopify-wide boards show the 25 apps and 25 themes found on the most stores Koala Inspector tracks.

Top stores: Up to 25 stores per category, ordered by estimated monthly visits. A store is listed only in its main category, so a department store with a jewelry range stays off the jewelry board and the specialists keep their places. Categories run from 7.4K tracked fitness stores to 210K tracked fashion stores.
Best sellers: Each top store's own best-selling products, merged into one list of 25. Rows sort by the store's traffic first and by the product's position inside that store second, so a store's #1 sits above its #3 and a best seller at a busier store sits above one at a smaller store.
Most visited product pages: The 25 product pages with the most estimated visits in the category, each marked with the month its estimate covers. 59% of the pages on these lists belong to stores outside their category's top 25, which makes this the list where products pulling traffic on their own show up.
Top apps: The 25 apps installed on the most Shopify stores we track, counted across every category. Each row shows how many stores run the app and its Shopify App Store rating.
Top themes: The 25 themes running on the most Shopify stores we track, with free and paid themes on one list.
